MUVJBL Under 18 Girls weekend preview: Round 4
AN exciting round of Melbourne United Victorian Junior Basketball League (MUVJBL) Under 18 Girls championship division sees plenty of predicted tight clashes. A battle of unbeaten Knox Raiders and Diamond Valley Eagles is the top match in the Ashe Pool, while a top-of-the-table clash between Hawthorn Magic and Altona Gators will leave just one team undefeated after four rounds.
Ashe Pool:
McKinnon Cougars (10th, 0-3) vs. Frankston Blues (9th, 0-3)
Kilsyth Cobras (1st, 3-0) vs. Bulleen Boomers (5th, 2-1)
Dandenong Rangers (4th, 2-1) vs. Southern Peninsula Sharks (7th, 1-2)
Knox Raiders (3rd, 3-0) vs. Diamond Valley Eagles (2nd, 3-0)
Nunawading Spectres 2 (6th, 1-2) vs. Pakenham Warriors (8th, 0-3)
The Raiders and Eagles clash is the one match all eyes will be on with only one side able to come away with four wins from as many games and potentially join Kilsyth Cobras as the only other side to do so. The Cobras have their own battle against the in-form Bulleen Boomers who have strung two wins together. At the bottom end of the table, McKinnon Cougars host Frankston Blues which will see one of the Pool battlers finally record a win. Meanwhile fourth placed Dandenong Rangers take on seventh placed Southern Peninsula Sharks, and sixth placed Nunawading Spectres will faced the winless Pakenham Warriors in a couple of mid-table clashes.
Watson Pool:
Nunwading Spectres (10th, 0-3) vs. Dandenong Rangers 2 (6th, 2-1)
Hawthorn Magic (1st, 3-0) vs. Altona Gators (2nd, 3-0)
Bendigo Braves (4th, 2-1) vs. Keilor Thunder (5th, 2-1)
Broadmeadows Broncos (7th, 1-2) vs. Warrandyte Venom (9th, 0-3)
Melbourne Tigers (8th, 0-3) vs. Geelong Supercats (3rd, 2-1)
In the Watson Pool, the highlight of the round is the top two clash between Hawthorn Magic and Altona Gators, with both sides yet to lose a game from their three rounds. Teams not far behind include fourth placed Bendigo Braves and fifth placed Keilor Thunder, who are ready to pounce on a top two spot. Geelong Supercats will travel to Melbourne to face the Tigers and try and heap more pain on the bottom three side, while Nunawading Spectres and Warrandyte Venom will look to record their own first wins when they take on Dandenong Rangers 2 and Broadmeadows Broncos respectively.
