Condon cracks another double-double

THE FLORIDA Gators claimed a whopping 30-point win over the Tennessee Volunteers in the NCAAM on Thursday, and Aussie Alex Condon was right in the thick of it for the winning side.

It was quite the upset from the Gators, who handed the first-seeded Tennessee its first loss of the season in emphatic fashion, with a win that was set up by some tremendously restrictive defence, holding the last unbeaten side to just 43 points.

The result means there are now no more undefeated sides in the NCAAM, making for a much more tantalising competition as March Madness approaches and is just a month and a half away, while Condon’s showing further demonstrates the strength of Aussies in the college system.

Alex Condon – 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two blocks

Condon continues to be a standout among the Aussies in the NCAAM for season 2024/25, and delivered yet another strong showing in a big win over one of the heavyweights of the country.

Condon and the Gators held the Volunteers to just 15 points in the first half, which is remarkable given how well Tennessee has performed over the past few months. The Aussie and his teammates were relentless on the defensive end, which set up their most impressive win of the season.

The forward was an excellent contributor on several fronts, including as a scorer, where he posted 12 points on 5/12 shooting from the field. He was also a perfect 2/2 from the charity stripe and did not need too much of the ball to hit the scoreboard.

On the glass, Condon made the most of his athletic traits to get first hands on the ball, pulling down 12 rebounds to record another double-double. Five of these came on the offensive end and helped spark second chance scoring opportunities for the Gators. Condon would track down the ball and either kick out to an open teammate or score himself.

It was yet another excellent feather in Condon’s cap for the 2024/25 season, as the Aussie continues to thrive in the college system and prove a tough matchup for his immediate defender.
