THE NORTH Adelaide Rockets have recorded their fourth win of the 2025 NBL1 Central Women’s season, defeating the Southern Tigers by eight points when the two sides clashed in Round 4 over the weekend.
Coming into the game, the Rockets held a record of three wins and zero in a red hot start to the season, and were in looking to break even further clear in the standings. On the other hand, the Tigers had managed just the one win from three matches and were looking to cause an upset when they hosted the Rockets at Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium on Saturday night.
It was a slow start to the match for both sides, but the home team struggled in particular, dropping just six points in the first frame as North Adelaide took a seven-point lead into quarter time. That period proved to be the difference as Southern did a good job to match the Rockets’ output, but could not undo the damage from the first quarter and fell to its third loss of the season.
Emerging talent Jordyn Freer was heavily involved for the Rockets in the win, with the 23-year-old putting together another solid performance to continue her strong start to the season.

Jordyn Freer – 12 points, six rebounds, one assist, two steals
Currently enjoying a productive start to the 2025 fixture, Freer kept that trend rolling to help lead her side to another victory and remain undefeated after four games.
Freer’s form reflected her team’s in the first quarter, struggling to find her rhythm on the offensive end to start the match, although she did record a nice steal and pull up midrange jumper to get herself going on the scoring front.
She showcased her determination in the second period with a nice tip in after following the miss from Tayla Corrigan, before nailing yet another jumpshot from midrange later in the term to help the Rockets take a seven-point buffer into the main break.
She started the third quarter with aggression, driving inside and finishing at the cup to get the Rockets off to the perfect start, before getting involved on the passing front to make a nice hand off to Mollie McKendrick, who nailed the jumper as North Adelaide held its lead.
As the clock wound down in the fourth quarter and it looked as if the Rockets were going to hold on, Freer extended her side’s lead with another jumpshot, before repeating the feat a minute later to show just how deadly she was from midrange, capping off an important performance from the young gun.
She finished with 12 points for the match and although it is down on her season average of 16.25, it was still vital within the context of the game, popping up for some important makes in what proved to be a scrappy contest.
