Six Aussies featuring at NBA Draft Combine

THERE are six Australian players looking to impress at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine, ahead of next month’s intake, and the Aussies will be eager to make their mark amongst a plethora of young talent.

The Draft Combine gives prospects the chance to make one last push for contention, looking to catch the eye in front of all 30 teams. There are more than 100 athletes currently testing at the combine, including six Australians, who are all looking to leave a lasting impression.

With all six right in the hunt for selection late next month, the combine will be a crucial period for the six players, with two coming from the NCAA while the remaining four competed in the NBL for the 2024/25 season.

Alex CondonFlorida Gators

Australia’s best draft chance, Condon stormed into draft contention with a standout campaign with the Gators, and now looms as a late first or early second round draft pick. A big man with an equally big engine, Condon can have an impact on both ends of the floor, and was a crucial cog in the Gators team that won the 2025 NCAA National Championship.

He also boasts an impressive passing ability for his size, and can make an immediate impact at NBA level as a backup four or five. Originally set to play for the Collingwood Magpies as a Category B Rookie in the AFL, those plans seem unlikely given his current standing as an expected NBA draftee in the coming months.

Tyrese ProctorDuke Blue Devils

Originally a top 10 chance, Proctor had to share the spotlight with expected top pick Cooper Flagg on the Blue Devils this year, which significantly hindered his output. However, the Aussie point guard adapted to his off-ball role as the season rolled on, and had some big performances throughout the NCAA National Tournament as a spot-up shooter, nailing multiple triples in several games and showed his ability to perform under bright lights despite initial doubts around this.

In his first season with the Blue Devils, Proctor was a creative point guard who could get his teammates open but also get to his own spots. Defensively, he was no slouch either, showing excellent agility which allowed him to stay in front of his defensive assignment. With the National Tournament performances giving his draft chances a boost, a strong showing at the combine would seal his selection.

Rocco ZikarskyBrisbane Bullets

Another previous top 10 fancy, injuries derailed a crucial campaign for Zikarsky in the NBL with the Bullets, and he now looks more likely as a late selection. There is no denying his physical profile, having already emerged as the tallest player with the biggest reach at the draft combine, which will undoubtedly catch the attention of NBA scouts, but a lack of consistency in his performances has seen teams shy away.

At seven-foot-four, he is an enormous player in the frontcourt, and looked at his best with the Bullets when using his size to his advantage as a shot blocker and lob threat. Although he tried to add a three-point shot to his game (such is the modern game), he is best placed as an interior contributor on both ends of the floor.

Alex TooheySydney Kings

The Kings young gun put together an excellent campaign throughout the 2024/25 NBL season, and his draft stock soared as a result. Previously teetering on the border of being a draft chance, it seems quite likely that Toohey will hear his name called in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft, largely due to his efforts in the NBL.

A forward who can dribble the ball but also use his physicality to drive inside and finish at the cup, the excellent balance in his game became more evident as the season rolled on. Toohey locked down the starting spot with Sydney and looked right at home playing with and against some of the competition’s best. A strong showing at the combine should see him cement his place as a draftee in June.

Ben HenshallPerth Wildcats

After playing two seasons with the Wildcats at NBL level, Henshall now has a chance to impress in front of NBA scouts, although a spot on the Gators in the NCAA is another option for the young gun. A three-level scorer who showed an impressive ceiling when his shot was falling, he undoubtedly threw his name in the ring with some excellent performance with Perth this season.

At six-foot-five, he is a solid build for the NBA, and has a solid enough handle to suggest he adds value as a secondary ball handler. Although he is not the biggest standout of the Aussies, there has been consistent interest from NBA sides over the past 12 months, and his invite to the combine reflects this.

Lachlan OlbrichIllawarra Hawks

The draft bolter of 2025, Olbrich has earned his spot at the NBA Draft Combine the hard way, after standing out as one of the top six performers at the G League combine over the weekend, which punched his ticket to the next level. Having been a key piece of the Hawks over the past two seasons and in their championship campaign in 2024/25, Olbrich now has the chance to prove his worth as an NBA prospect at the combine in Chicago.

At six-foot-10, he brings plenty of height to the frontcourt, but its his skillset that has caught the eye of NBA teams. He has shown excellent footwork, speed, touch and toughness with the Hawks over the past 12 months, and if he can continue his hot form of late, he may just sneak into draft calculations after storming onto the scene.
