SNAPSHOT
Although he only started playing basketball very recently compared to his peers, Beringer is an excellent option for teams looking for a long-term prospect in their frontcourt, with the Frenchman proving to have a unique skillset for his size.
Although he is still quite raw, Beringer's upside is immense given his speed and ability to score inside the paint, and if he can be developed throughout the first years of his career, the payoff could be exceptional for the team willing to take a chance on him.
DRAFT PROFILE
Beringer grew up in Sélestat, France, playing soccer for most of his junior career, with no interest in basketball at that stage. However, a growth spurt in his mid teens saw the youngster switch codes, playing under-18 basketball in his home country.
The center then moved to Slovenia and played at a professional level, looking right at home playing for Cedevita Olimpija, and helping the team win the Slovenian Basketball Cup for the most recent season. He saw significant playing time which significantly helped his development and put him on draft radars.
Beringer also has seen action at international level, representing France at the 2023 FIBA Under-18 European Championship and showing his potential with an eye-catching display.
For Cedevita Olimpija, the youngster averaged 5.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, certainly holding his own against fully developed opponents, even signing a four-year contract with the team in 2024, although NBA selection will alter those plans.
STRENGTHS
+ Versatility on the defensive end
+ Impressive speed for his size
+ Rim running
+ Excellent in the pick and roll
IMPROVEMENTS
- Sloppiness with the ball
- Light frame
At six-foot-11, Beringer has excellent speed for his size, which helps him be much more versatile on the defensive end of the floor. Already boasting a strong wingspan, his lateral movement allows him to stay in front of his opponent and he is a reliable rim protector.
Offensively, Beringer is best suited when finishing at the cup, and works well in pick and roll scenarios. He can set solid screens and then use his speed to gain separation from his opponent and dash to the basket. With his size, he is an obvious lob threat, and his hands are reliable and allow him to hold onto the ball even if the passes are not the best.
As a raw prospect, there are areas of Beringer's game that he will need to improve, starting with his ability to take care of the basketball. As a big man, his handle is quite loose, which results in him getting stripped in the low block before he has the ability to put up a shot.
Entering the NBA against some of the biggest bodies in the world, Beringer will also ideally put on some size throughout preseason, as he is lightly framed for his position. If he can add some weight, it will make him a much better low-block threat.
DRAFT PROJECTION: Top 20
Beringer is one of the more raw options for the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, but his upside is certainly evident to scouts. If a team is willing to take a chance on him and develop him in the first few years of his career, it could be an excellent investment.
