SNAPSHOT
A forward who is reminiscent of years gone by with his style of play, Thomas Sorber is a rock solid piece for NBA teams looking to add to their frontcourt, and has the tools required to make it at the top level in the coming years for whichever side takes a chance on him.
Although he does have some development to go if he is to show glimpses of becoming a star in the NBA, his foundation should still translate to the top level, and his floor is reasonably high, ensuring he should be a first round selection.
DRAFT PROFILE
Growing up in New Jersey, Sorber truly broke onto the scene when he transferred to Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, in his Sophomore year. He became one of the premier big men in his area, averaging 16.5 points per game and becoming the league's best rebounder.
Rated as a four-star recruit, Sorber received offers from several highly-touted schools, including Miami, Providence and Villanova, before settling on the Georgetown Hoyas, where he was set to play a prominent role for the team in his Freshman year.
The forward had a brilliant start to his NCAA career, dropping a massive double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, emerging as one of the best Freshman in the country. He was named to the All-Big East Third Team for a strong campaign and was one of the best first year players in the college system.
Throughout the 2024/25 NCAA season, Sorber posted numbers of 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 53.2 per cent from the field, 16.2 per cent from three-point territory and 72.4 per cent from the free throw line.

IMPROVEMENTS
- Shooting
- Pick and roll finishing
Sorber was at his best throughout his time with the Hoyas when scoring the ball inside, showcasing reliable hands, elite touch around the rim and an excellent level of physicality when looking to finish at the cup. Often he was able to outmuscle his opponent and get free around the basket, and although the bodies will be bigger at NBA level, it seems a natural talent.
The forward has excellent passing skills, and can help open up the offence with reliable vision and consistent execution with ball in hand. He often acted as the middle man for Georgetown in halfcourt sets, and this skill should help NBA offences work better in the coming years.
As a defender, he is extremely reliable in protecting the paint, often making the most of drop coverage to get his long arms between the ball and the basket. He gives consistent effort on the defensive end and uses his vertical advantage to contest without fouling.
He could become a more reliable shooter, which would make his game much more dynamic, although he has shown some upside in this department over the past 12 months, while another bow to add to his game could be through pick and roll finishing, where he lacks a bit of consistency for his size and position.
DRAFT PROJECTION: Top 25
Sorber is an old-school big man who will appeal to NBA sides with his reliability and physicality on both ends of the floor. Although not as flashy as some of his peers, there is certainly enough upside in his shooting and passing to justify first round selection.
