Crocs cruise past Korea in quarter finals

THE AUSTRALIAN Crocs have remained undefeated at the 2025 FIBA Under-16 Asia Cup earlier today in Mongolia, handing Korea a 28-point loss in the quarter final, advancing to the semis in deserving fashion.

The Crocs made light work of the group stage, winning all three games against Bahrain, India and Lebanon to advance straight through to the quarter finals with a perfect record. Their opponent in Korea was determined yesterday, as the Aussies had a day off to prepare for the pointy end of their championship hunt.

Although Korea fought hard in the opening stages of the match, the Crocs took control after quarter time, eventually cruising home to a 28-point win and locking in a spot in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Australian Crocs (98) def. Korea (70)

The Crocs started the game strongly as expected, looking their potent best offensively in the opening minutes of the period to immediately assert themselves. However, a 9-0 run saw the Koreans take an eight-point lead to stun the Aussies in commanding fashion, although the Crocs finished the term as they started it, scoring the final 12 points of the period to lead by four.

Luke Paul helped the Australians continue their excellent first half in the second quarter, proving productive as both a scorer and passer. However, Korea was sticking around, with the margin sitting at just six points with a few minutes remaining in the half, but once again, the Crocs made the most of the final minutes, controlling proceedings late to lead by 11 points at the main change.

The two sides traded baskets to open the half, with the Koreans keeping it within eight points to remain within striking distance thanks to some resilience on the offensive end. It was shaping as a solid effort before a 13-0 run to the Crocs completely blew the game wide open, capped off by a three-pointer to Andrew Watene, helping the Aussies to a 19-point buffer at the final break.

Despite the result being sealed at three-quarter time, the Australians did not take the foot off the accelerator in the final period, outscoring the Koreans 25-16 in the final 10 minutes. The Crocs were simply unstoppable scoring the ball inside the paint, pushing the rock under the basket and cruising home to a strong victory.

Paul was simply superb for the Aussies in victory, dropping 21 points on 8/11 shooting from the field and 2/3 shooting from behind the arc, proving the most reliable avenue to scoring for the Crocs. He also dropped eight rebounds and five assists in a well-balanced showing.

Lucas Byrne and Tom Dammers both dropped 14 points apiece in the win for the Australians, while Alexander Mabbott dropped a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in a strong team performance from the Crocs.
