Booth brings scoring as Spirit smash Lynx

ONE OF the biggest positives for the Bendigo Spirit in their massive 29-point Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) victory over the Perth Lynx was the scoring production of Georgia Booth off the bench.

The multisport athlete was able to make an impact in the blowout win at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Despite starting the match on the pine, Booth benefited from the blowout nature of the game, and was given the opportunity to showcase her shooting skills as Bendigo dominated proceedings.

The reigning champions have proven to be a tough matchup for opposing teams throughout the 2025/26 season, and that trend continued as the Lynx found themselves up against it despite a promising first quarter. Although the visitors led by four points at the first change, the Spirit outscored Perth comfortably in the final three periods, and cruised home to a 29-point win.

Booth was one of the better performers for Bendigo in its massive win in Gippsland over the weekend, showcasing her scoring ability and putting forth a case for more minutes in the future given what she was able to produce on Sunday.

Georgia Booth – 11 points, four rebounds, one assist

Booth was one of many strong performers for the Spirit as they recorded a hefty victory over the Lynx in Round 6 of the 2025/26 fixture, showing how dangerous she can be from behind the arc and making the most of her 23 minutes of court time.

It was an understated start to the match for the 22-year-old, with Booth checking in midway through the first term, but not able to hit the scoreboard during her first five minutes of playing time. She was getting to the right spots, but the ball was not finding its way into her hands, although it was a familiar tale for the rest of her team in the opening period as they trailed by four points at quarter time.

The second quarter saw Booth begin to assert herself in the contest, knocking down her first shot of the match with a smooth stepback three-pointer that left the defence frozen as the Spirit began to take control of the game. The former Aussie Rules talent made an impact in other ways too, pulling down defensive rebounds and finding Isobel Borlase for a three-pointer as Bendigo took a four-point buffer into the main change.

After starting the third quarter on the bench, Booth returned to the fold midway through the period and wasted no time picking up where she left off. She nailed her second three-pointer of the match off a Marianna Tolo assist, before driving inside and finishing at the cup to help stretch Bendigo’s lead out to 17 points at the final change, and the young gun was playing a crucial role in helping the Spirit break the game open.

Booth set the tone for the fourth quarter early in the piece, nailing her third shot from behind the arc as the home side ran away with the match. She showed more aggression for the remainder of the match with ball in hand, and although the shots started drying up, it was still an exciting sight for the Spirit as she began to back her own scoring ability.

She finished the contest with 11 points on 4/6 shooting from the field and an efficient 3/4 shooting from behind the arc to go with four rebounds and an assist. If she can produce this level of scoring consistently, it will be massive for Bendigo’s chances of going back to back in the coming months.
