Crocs crush India to continue magnificent start

THE AUSTRALIAN Crocs have continued their perfect start at the 2025 Under-16 FIBA Asia Cup in Magnolia, defeating India by a whopping 89 points when the two sides locked horns at MBank Arena yesterday.
The Crocs started their campaign at the tournament with a whopping 94-point win over Bahrain, and maintaining their standing as favourites to take out the title. Loaded with emerging talent from around the country, the Aussies took an incredibly stacked roster to Magnolia, and looked tough to stop after their first outing.
The Crocs kept it rolling against India, completely dominating the contest in a tremendous team performance to claim another win verging on a triple-digit margin, sending another ominous warning to the remainder of the competition.
India (42) def. by Australian Crocs (131)
It was the perfect start to the match for the Aussies, with Isaiah Jorgensen leading the Crocs to a 7-0 run to open the contest, setting the tone for the contest with some early dominance. India tried to answer and stay in the fight, but the Australians jumped out to a double-digit lead, gaining ascendancy in transition and leading by 23 points at quarter time after Lucas Byrne beat the buzzer with a nice finish under the basket.
A 10-2 run coming out of the first break ensured the Crocs were still comfortably in the box seat, doing a bulk of their scoring underneath the basket, making the most of their size advantage over the opposition’s frontcourt. Jorgensen and Antonio Browne knocked down triples to show the Aussies’ ability to stretch the floor, and at the main change, they led by a whopping 42 points in another one-sided affair.
Jorgensen and Will Hamilton dominated the opening minutes of the second half to continue the Crocs’ excellence, with the former nailing an impressive and-one through contact. The Aussies were simply doing as they pleased on the offensive end, whether it was swinging the ball around the arc to find open three-pointers, or throwing down dunks in transition. India was simply helpless and could not stop the Crocs from holding a 64-point buffer at the final break.
Although Australia had emptied its bench by the start of the fourth quarter, the Crocs were still absolutely dominant on both ends of the floor. They had far too many avenues to scoring for India to contain them defensively, and the margin edged closer to triple-digits, although it ended up finishing at 89 points in another flawless showing from the Aussies.
Hamilton led all comers on the scoring front, backing up his strong showing against Bahrain with 22 points on 10/14 shooting, making the most of his impressive size and athleticism combined with elite touch and solid shooting abilities. Jorgensen was a two-way monster with 20 points of his own (8/11 FG) to go with five steals, while Byrne was the third Aussie to finish with 20 points, nailing nine of his 12 attempts from the field.
Ansh Tomer fought hard for India despite the loss, ending up as his team’s sole double-digit scorer with 11 points and eight rebounds in a respectable performance against a dominant Australian team.
The Aussies’ campaign continues today when they take on Lebanon in the final match of the group stages prior to the quarter-finals.
