Ferocious Forster leads Senators past Redbacks

AS the Warwick Senators cruised past the Perth Redbacks in Round 5 of the National Basketball League (NBL)1 West Women’s over the weekend, it was Chloe Forster that was the standout performance of the match.

The Senators had started the 2024 season in cracking fashion winning three of their last four, but they did suffer a loss in their most recent outing, so Warwick was definitely looking to get back on the winners’ list. On the other hand, Perth was looking to break its form slump to start the fixture, and certainly came into the match eager to cause an upset.

The game took place at Warwick Stadium on Saturday evening and it was all one-way traffic in the first quarter as the Senators jumped out to an 11-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Perth simply could not conjure consistent enough production on the offensive end for the remainder of the match, as the Senators snagged an impressive 16-point win.

Forster was clearly the best player in a strong team performance from Warwick, showing the potential she has to become one of the stars in Australian basketball.

Chloe Forster – 28 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals

Coming off her first season in the WNBL, Forster had one of the best showings of her career against Perth on the weekend.

She top-scored with 28 points for the match, helping contribute to an extremely balanced offensive performance from the home side.

Forster had her best success from behind the three-point line, knocking down six triples truly punish the Redbacks for poor coverage behind the perimeter.

From the field, the young gun shot 10/19 in a rather efficient showing, taking the right shots and never forcing any poor attempts.

All 10 of her rebounds came on the defensive end, restricting the Redbacks to three less offensive boards by getting first hands on a Perth miss.

Although having one of her best scoring nights of the season, Forster made sure to share the love with her teammates, flirting with a triple-double by racking up a team-high eight assists.

She combined particularly well with the remainder of the starting lineup, all of whom poured in double-digits in the points column.

Forster produced a star showing for Warwick, and showed maturity in all aspects of her game in a performance that showed how high her ceiling is.
