Glover greatness gets Wildcats a win

AN exceptionally accurate scoring performance from star guard Angus Glover has led the Eltham Wildcats to a big win over the Keilor Thunder at Keilor Stadium on Thursday night in the National Basketball League (NBL)1 South Men’s.

The final round of the 2024 season had a bumper set of games on the cards, and there were many exciting matchups set to take place. With the big guns building their form for the postseason, many excellent individual performances have already begun to take place.

In a completely one-sided affair, the visiting side dominated from the get-go, jumping out to a 27-12 lead at the first change and never looking back. The Wildcats won all four quarters and never gave the Thunder a sniff despite having homecourt advantage, and cruised home to a 31-point win on the road.

Glover was the star of the show for the victors, excelling on the scoring front and leading his side to an early lead with some tantalising shotmaking.

Angus Glover – 32 points, four rebounds, four assists

Like a good social media manager, Glover made every post a winner in the big win over Keilor, producing some eye-catching baskets and helping his side break away on the scoreboard.

He finished with a game-high 32 points, a total that was built off an extremely high level of accuracy shooting the ball, and despite the defence’s best efforts, they could not slow him down.

From the field, the feisty guard shot an impressive 11/15, which included a perfect 6/6 from inside the arc, driving past the defence and finishing at the basket despite any defensive pressure from the opposition big men inside.

He was also extremely deadly from behind the arc, knocking down five triples and showing the range that has helped him make a name for himself as a big game player in the NBL and NBL1 over recent years. With an excellent shooting motion, it is hard to defend Glover when he has found his groove.

It was a game-breaking scoring showing from one of the biggest names in the NBL1 South, with Glover building into some nice form ahead of the upcoming finals series.
