Hollick helps in a big way as Lakeside topple Slammers

TIM HOLLICK was one of many players to stand out for the Lakeside Lighting as they claimed an impressive win over the South West Slammers in the NBL1 West Men’s over the weekend.
Coming into the clash at Eaton Rec Centre on Thursday night, both sides were yet to record a win, with Lakeside having lost three games while the Slammers lost their first two, so the clash offered the perfect opportunity for both teams to get on the board for season 2025.
It was a close match throughout the first half, with neither side able to really break away on the scoreboard, and the Slammers held a five-point buffer at the main change in a game that was looking likely to go down to the wire. However, the Lightning were simply superb in the second half, outscoring the opposition 55-34 and storming home for a 16-point win in a massive turnaround.
The 22-year-old Hollick put together a rock solid performance for the Lightning in their first win of the season, making the most of his 29 minutes of court time and justifying his place as a starter.

Tim Hollick – 13 points, two rebounds, six assists, one steal
It was such a reliable performance from Hollick, who put together one of the best performances of his career for the Lightning on Thursday night, and showed just how bright his future may be.
He got on the board early with a nice layup on the drive to put his side up by two points early in the piece, before getting involved as a passer for the remainder of the first term. He was making life extremely easy for his teammates with well-directed passes, although his side did trail at the first change.
Hollick was subbed out early in the second quarter, and returned later in the period to again showcase just how dangerous he is when attacking the basket, driving to the hoop and finishing through contact, although he could not convert the and-one.
He played a crucial role in the second half comeback, starting with a vital third quarter steal and score in transition to cut the deficit down as the Lightning began to make their run, and this time, he converted the and-one, learning from his previous mistake.
Hollick knocked down an important triple to cut the margin back down to three points, and his impressive work with ball in hand was reflective of the improvement Lakeside showed as a whole coming out of half time.
He nailed the dagger three-pointer halfway through the last quarter to put his side up by nine points and put the dagger through the heart of the Slammers, who simply could not answer for the remainder of the match.
