THE Bulleen Boomers have taken another big win starting their season 2-0 with a win against the Casey Cavaliers. The 79-52 win was on the back of another strong performance from Will Rimmington who put on 20 points. Casey relied on Blake Shankland again this week however his 18 points were not enough as the Cavaliers fell to a heavy loss after last weeks draw.
The Watson pool had another draw on this week as the Warriors and Supercats could not be split at the final buzzer sharing the points in the 64-all match. Jack Morris-Burney put up a big game dropping 19 for Pakenham, only bettered by Supercat, Jet Kneebone (21). Along with Kneebone, Billy Dawson (12 points), Harry Den Dryver and Olivier Northam (both 11) had solid games.
The other results in the Watson pool saw Waverley, Hawthorn and Eltham all chalk up comfortable wins. The Falcons’ Matt Jefferson posted 23 points in the 79-64 win, combining well with David Amum (19) to sink Kilsyth Cobras, despite the best efforts of Harrison Adams (18). Anton Stratov (24 points) and Bradley Moore (17) were productive for Eltham in the 17-point win against Melbourne, while Hawthorn’s Denzel Timmons went on a scoring streak of 24 points in the Magic’s 71-57 win over Sunbury.
The Ashe pool saw a few closer match ups this week four of the five matches were separated by less than 12 points. The game of the round saw Bendigo scrape to a six-point win over Eltham Wildcats 2. Liam O’Brien (13) and Macey Eaton (11) combined for 24 to see the Braves over the line and sit second on the ladder at 2-0.
In their way at the top sit Knox who had a 38-point win over the Southern Peninsula Sharks. Jordan Anderson’s hot hand continued this week as he came up big scoring 21 as his side cruised to victory with help from Blake Stratton (16).
The other results saw Keilor make it two from two win a narrow win over Dandenong thanks to the work of Cooper Colson (19) and Christopher Panayl (15) among others. Diamond Valley recorded a nine-point victory over Latrobe Energy with Corey Rutherford (21 points) on fire, along with Jack Miles (17), while the Energy’s deadly duo of Coby Burgiel (24) and Jack Hrehoresen (21) did most of the damage for the visitors. The final game saw Dandenong overcome Nunawading for its first win of the season, as Jerome Pierre dropped 30 points in the win.
