IN Round 3 of the Melbourne United Victorian Junior League (MUVJBL) Under 18 Boys Championship Division, the Kilsyth Cobras made it three consecutive wins in the VC, demolishing the Korumburra Wildcats on the road by 35 points (66-31). Roosevelt Williams and Tom Ghosn dropped 11 points each for Kilsyth in the win, while their scoring-leader, Josh Duach dipped slightly with a nine-point performance. For Korumburra, Brodie Mabilia (12 points) stepped up in the loss alongside teammate, Luis D’Angelo, who jumped to sixth on the top scorers list with a 10-point game.

In unbelievable fashion, the Melbourne Tigers snared their first positive of the Championship Division since the two-grade split with a huge win over the Diamond Valley Eagles (71-39) at home. The Tigers opened the first period 24-9, setting the tone early. The home-side boasted huge performances from NBL1 representative, Joshua Giddey (15 points), Patrick Twigg (18), Jordan Adams (17) and Ezrah Vaigafa (13). Diamond Valley’s, Erik Kafritsas, played well in the loss with 12 points, while Joseph Brazier followed on eight.

The Dandenong Rangers have further exposed the Keilor Thunder’s home record (3-3-0) with their fifth consecutive win (62-78) for the season. A slow first half let Keilor down, recording 21 points to 41 at the main break. The Rangers had plenty scorers in Zac Taylor (15), Jyelin Moli (13), Riley Simmons (12) and Harrison Bowater (12), with Simmons and Bowater moving to 11th and 12th respectively on the top scorers list. Paul Tsapatolis returned to the Thunder this week and held up well in the loss with a game-high 21 points – putting him fourth on the top scorers list.

Bouncing back from last week’s loss, the Nunawading Spectres prevailed over the Bendigo Braves on the road (60-78). James Roche jumped to second on the top scorers list with a huge 23-point effort for the Spectres, while teammate, Dihan Wiggett, lifted with 14 of his own. Bendigo’s, Caleb Connick, matched Roche well in the loss, snaring 23 points to put him as the league’s best scorer as we head into Round 4 – Jordan Michel finished with the next most on eight.

The Bulleen Boomers remain undefeated in the VC, beating an underdone outfit in the Werribee Devils. The loss marks Werribee’s fourth consecutive defeat, being one of two teams still without a win in the new division. Anthony Dell’Orso led for the Boomers with 21 points, alongside teammate Owen Foxwell who had 18. For the Devils, Darrien Herbert impressed with 14, while Kane Hart followed close on 12.

In the Reserve grade, the Casey Cavaliers earned a win (74-54) at home against the Dandenong Rangers, as did the Hawthorn Magic against the Ringwood Hawks (65-61). Waverley Falcons snared a big win over the Collingwood All-Stars (83-54), the Geelong Supercats lost to the Knox Raiders (82-96), and the Ballarat Rush scored a big win on the road against the Eltham Wildcats (48-57).

In the Championship Division for Round 4, second faces first when Dandenong hosts Kilsyth, Diamond Valley looks to get on the board against Nunawading, and Keilor faces a big task against Bulleen. Four sides with less success face with Korumburra hosting Werribee and Melbourne coming up against Bendigo to close out the round.
