NBA Draft Team Wraps – Bucks, Bulls, Celtics

THE NBA Draft has wrapped up, and the next crop of players at the top level are now fully entrenched in their respective teams as the season approaches in the coming months.

In fact, with the Summer League kicking off earlier this week, the youngsters are now even hitting the court for the first time in an exciting injection of youth to the world’s biggest and best league.

Given the draft has concluded, Rookie Me Central will be taking a look at how each side fared on one of the biggest nights on the basketball calendar.

Given the Philadelphia 76ers did not make a selection on draft night, the first cabs off the rank are the Bucks, Bulls and Celtics.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks made just the sole selection with the final pick in the draft, selecting Chris Livingston at number 58. Livingston is a six-foot-five shooting guard, and might take some developing, but he could be prove to be a steal given the potential he brings to the table.

Livingston is one of the best athletes in the draft, and has plenty of ability above the rim. Although he did not post the biggest numbers during his time with Kentucky in the NCAA, he still has a strong foundation as a player that clearly excited the Bucks.

He looks at his best in the open court, providing plenty of bounce when going downhill, and while he is not the strongest shooter, if that area can be improved in the future it opens the door for Livingston to be a valuable contributor.

Chicago Bulls

Much like the Bucks, the Chicago Bulls had just the sole pick on draft night, although theirs was a bit higher up the order. The Bulls picked Julian Phillips at 35, a wing with plenty of potential upside if given the opportunity to develop. Chicago acquired the pick via a draft night trade with the Wizards.

He has plenty of athleticism, boasting one of the best above-the-rim games in the entire class, while his outside shot looks like it could develop nicely. Phillips is also a solid rebounder, and should get some court time for Chicago.

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics came into the draft with just one pick next to their name, but ended up leaving with two players thanks to a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Celtics acquired guard Marcus Sasser from the Grizzlies, who was selected with the 25th pick. Sasser is a point guard that has plenty of scoring capabilities in his game. A strong shooter, Sasser will inject some creativity into Boston’s offence, and is a handy contributor from behind the arc.

Nine picks later, the team selected forward Colby Jones, who plays above his six-foot-six height and also looms as a handy player for the future. With plenty in his scoring arsenal while having proven himself as a playmaker too, Jones will find himself with some considerable minutes early into his career if he can impress during the lead-up to the season.
