NBL Team Overview: New Zealand Breakers

THE upcoming season of the National Basketball League (NBL) is just around the corner, with the season opener slated for the 2nd of December. As the NBL Blitz pre-season campaign comes to a close, sides across the league will be finalising their preparations for their NBL22 campaigns. With that said, it is time for us to take one final look at each team, and how they are faring heading into the upcoming season. Next up on the list are the New Zealand Breakers, who will be gearing up for an unpredictable season given the ongoing border situation. However, with a number of young stars on their list, they should be set to compete at the highest of their ability.

The New Zealand Breakers have endured a complicated time since the COVID-19 outbreak, and this continues to wreak havoc on the side. Their NBL Blitz campaign was cut short due to four positive cases within the group, but the club remains positive towards a return to the court in the near future. Breaker fans will be looking forward to the regular season debut of NBL Next Stars Dieng and Besson, who were able to impress during their time in the Blitz pre-season competition. It appears likely they will be spending the first half of the season camped in Australia, which may affect their performance as it has done in the past. However, if they can remain competitive throughout this time on foreign shores, then they will be well set up to make a strong charge towards the finals once they return to their home court later in the year.
