NBL Team Overview: Sydney Kings

THE upcoming season of the National Basketball League (NBL) is just around the corner, with the season opener slated for the 2nd of December. As the NBL Blitz pre-season campaign comes to a close, sides across the league will be finalising their preparations for their NBL22 campaigns. With that said, it is time for us to take one final look at each team, and how they are faring heading into the upcoming season. Our second last side to examine under the microscope is the Sydney Kings, who will be eager to make up for missing out on the finals by the slimmest of margins in NBL21.

It was a disappointing end to last season for the Kings, who backed up a grand final appearance by missing the finals in the 2020-21 season, although this was by the slimmest of margins. The Phoenix snuck past them to claim the final spot in the postseason based on percentage, breaking the hearts of Sydney players, coaches and fans. Redemption will surely be on their mind as they look to assert themselves in the finals once more.

The loss of star point guard Casper Ware will likely take its toll on the side, but the team was able to add talent such as former NBA player Hunter and the extremely talented Maker brothers. They have shown in the past that they are capable of making this a grand final side, so expect a strong season from the three time champions as they look to return to their winning ways.
