IN Round 3 of the National Basketball League (NBL)1 Women’s competition, Frankston Blues will have a couple of tries to snare their first win, Ballarat Rush has a tough ask to do so against Dandenong Rangers as the Rangers look to continue their winning streak, while the Braves could be 5-0 if they can capitalise against Frankston and Kilsyth Cobras. Around the competition, Geelong Supercats will also have two chances to notch up more wins with games against Frankston on Friday and fellow undefeated side, Eltham Wildcats on Sunday, while the all-Tasmanian clash pits the unbeaten Hobart Huskies against the winless Launceston Tornadoes.
The Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence has a bye this round after a heavy fortnight which featured five games – and ultimately five losses, while in other matches, Albury Wodonga Bandits host Diamond Valley Eagles, Southern Sabres face Knox Raiders, Waverley Falcons take on Melbourne Tigers, Nunawading Specres meet Eltham, the Raiders face the Tigers and Ringwood Hawks host the Cobras. Among the players to watch are Nunawading Spectres’ Chelsea D’Angelo and Dandenong Rangers’ Rebecca Cole who are in fine form, while Bendigo Braves’ Kelly Wilson and Hobart Huskies’ Ellie Collins are others who have started the season strongly.
