Stacey sets the Barr with whopping 50-piece

ROUND 10 of the NBL1 West Women’s season saw one of the best scoring performances of the year from Warwick Senators gun Stacey Barr.

The Senators took on the Perth Redbacks, and were looking to get back on the winners’ list after sustaining three losses in a row. On the other hand, the Redbacks had managed just one win themselves from 10 games, and were eager to double that total, although it would be a tough ask on the road.

The match took place at Warwick Stadium on Friday night, and the Senators put on a show for their home crowd. The hosts jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, and although Perth’s defence lifted in the following term, Warwick stormed home in the second half to claim a thumping 29-point win and get its season back on track.

Although the team’s performance as a whole was commendable, the biggest talking point of the match was the performance of Barr, who delivered a masterful offensive showing and was a force to be reckoned with.

Warwick Senators (87) def. Perth Redbacks (58)

Stacey Barr – 51 points, eight rebounds, one assist, two steals

Barr was a class above in Warwick’s win, putting the team on her back on the offensive end and producing one of the most memorable individual performances of any league this season.

Obviously, her points total of 51 was the most of any match, registering over half of her team’s score in a masterful showing. Regardless of whatever the defence threw at her, Barr could not be stopped from putting the ball in the hoop.

She found the bottom of the net from the field on 19 occasions on just 27 attempts in a red-hot shooting performance. Barr displayed composure and accuracy when scoring at all three levels, and could simply not be stopped.

From behind the arc, the former Fremantle Docker in the AFLW drained eight baskets on 12 attempts. Her smooth-moving shooting motion was on full display and she seemed unfazed by ay contests by the Perth defenders.

Although she produced a massive points total, Barr only had eight free throw attempts which demonstrates just how deadly she was from the field. Of those trips to the charity stripe, she made five, remarkably making this her least accurate scoring area.

It was as strong a scoring performance as the NBL1 has seen in the 2023 season, with Barr completely taking over the match and proving the difference between the two sides.
