RECENT NBA draftee Alex Toohey was excellent in Monday’s action in the Summer League, starring for the Golden State Warriors as they claimed a 10-point win over the Utah Jazz in the preseason tournament.
Toohey was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft last month, having caught the eye of several scouts following a strong couple of seasons with the Sydney Kings as an NBL Next Star, with his second campaign cementing his place as a draftee.
Toohey joined Aussie point guard Taran Armstrong in Golden State, and the pair have been in the starting lineup together throughout the Summer League. With both players eager to crack into the NBA rotation this season, it was a great opportunity to make their case to do so.
The Warriors faced off against the Jazz, and proved too good for Utah at Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas earlier today, with Toohey producing his best performance of the tournament to date.

Toohey looked at his aggressive and confident best throughout the win over the Jazz, backing his own scoring ability and finding the bottom of the net to be the most productive starter on the court for the Warriors.
The forward was one of the earliest scorers for the Warriors, following up a missed layup by tipping the ball back into the hoop in a perfect demonstration of his hustle and power inside the paint, helping Golden State to a 4-0 lead. It was his only score for the match, after spending a lot of the term on the bench.
He had a hefty stint on the pine throughout the second quarter as well, but came to life at the end of the first half. Following a successful trip to the free throw line, where he made both attempts, Toohey delivered a highlight play with a nice reverse layup in transition after grabbing the defensive board. He then nailed another three free throws for the term, showing a lot of determination and physicality in the low block.
The Aussie did not hit the scoreboard in the third term, but was relentless on the glass, and even showed his playmaking ability to find a cutting Will Richard, who threw down the dunk after being freed by an excellent Toohey pass.
The draftee then showed his ability to stretch the floor by nailing his first three-pointer of the night, showing plenty of confidence in his shooting stroke. After a short stint on the bench once again, he returned to the fold and immediately got involved with another reverse layup to cap off a productive performance.
Toohey finished the match with 15 points and five rebounds, sending a message to the Warriors coaching staff that he is capable of minutes early in his NBA career, and if he can improve his efficiency while maintaining his aggression, he could explode for a massive performance soon.
