After coming so close to playing in the finals last season, Sydney Uni will be aiming to jump at least one spot higher this time around. They have not made the finals since the 2017/18 campaign, so the Flames will be desperately hoping to end that streak this season.
The Sydney Uni Flames have had a busy off season, with many new recruits joining the side ahead of the 2021/2022 season.
The biggest name of these new recruits is Shyla Heal, who comes down to Sydney from Townsville and will play under dad Shane.
Keely Froling comes across from the University of Canberra (UC) Capitals, while Dallas WNBA star Chelsea Dungee is venturing down under to join the Flames.
Stephanie Watts, Rebecca Pizzey, Kalani Purcell and Chrya Evans are the Flames’ other recruits.
Unfortunately for the Flames, they weren’t able to play any practise matches in the lead up to the 2021/22 season.
First up, they have Canberra in their opening game this coming Sunday.
There will be extra spiciness in the clash, as it will be a battle of the Froling twins Keely and Alicia Froling. Since both sisters are at new sides this season, both will be desperately hoping to impress their new sides and beat their sister. There is plenty to like about the exciting Flames with the list they have assembled for the WNBL 2021/22 season.
