IN a much-anticipated release this morning, the 2022 Opals squad for next year’s World Cup in Sydney was announced. The 24-strong squad is full of talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It includes the likes of Tokyo 2020 squad members Jenna O’Hea<\/a>, <\/strong>Marianna Tolo<\/a>, and <\/strong>Sara Blicavs<\/a>, and Asia Cup squad members Keely Froling<\/a>, Darcee Garbin<\/a>, and Maddison Rocci<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This squad will be playing the FIBA qualifiers in Serbia in February 2022 before turning their attention to the World Cup on home soil in September 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The squad will remain fluid and can be added to as the performances of athletes are assessed in the various professional leagues over the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Opals coach Sandy Brondello<\/em><\/strong> is excited about the squad that\u2019s been put together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am really excited about the talent we have in Australian Basketball and the squad that we as coaches have put together for 2022 is a great mix of experience and youth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI was particularly excited by some of the performances from the younger players in the Asia Cup post the Olympics who were given a taste of international basketball and there will be opportunities for those who work hard and make the most of their opportunities throughout the upcoming WNBL competition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Opals\u2019 2022 World Cup Squad:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Rebecca Allen
