The Bulleen Boomers will play host to Wyndham at East Doncaster Secondary College on Saturday night, in probably the biggest game of the season so far.

Both squads have been outstanding in the first 10 weeks of action, with extremely similar records to boot. However, this weekend provides the ultimate challenge for who is the outright title favourite moving forward. With not much separating these sides of let, it is set to be a thoroughly entertaining contest, and will be the most crucial matchup we have seen so far in 2022. Expect there to be a heavyweight for the championship by the time this game is over, and while the standings might not change, the perception on who is the side to beat surely will.

Bulleen Boomers vs. Wyndham
Saturday, June 4 @ 8pm
East Doncaster Secondary College

The Boomers have been the best side to start the year, although that gap is closing in a pretty fast manner. They currently hold a record of 10 wins and one loss from their first 11 outings, and have been pretty dominant in a number of their triumphs. With the ability to score from a fair few avenues and an uncanny trait of holding the opposition to a pretty average score, it seems Bulleen is the complete package. However, if they are to stamp their authority as true title favourites, they must take down Wyndham, who has not been far behind at all. The Boomers will need to bring their A-game and look for players such as Olivia Bontempelli to perform, but one of their strengths is the consistently high number of contributors on a weekly basis, so they should be confident.

Wyndham has been excellent too in its start to the 2022 campaign, just one victory behind with a record of nine wins and two losses on the year. The visitors face the toughest challenge the competition has to offer so far this year in taking down the Boomers, but the consensus is that if any side can produce an upset at the moment, it is Wyndham. However, they will need to deliver one of their best performances of the year on the defensive end across the board. It is evident that Bulleen has a number of ways they can hurt you with ball in hand so shutting down one player will not be enough. Offensively, look for Dyani Ananiev to continue her good form of late and attempt to lead her side to victory as she did last weekend against McKinnon.

ACROSS THE COURTS

Lots more of Big V Women’s action is on the cards for the upcoming weekend, as the competition reaches the halfway point of season 2022.

Pakenham vs. McKinnon, Saturday @6pm, Cardinia Life
Chelsea vs. Hume, Saturday @7pm, Patterson River Stadium
Southern Peninsula vs. Wyndham, Sunday @1pm, Hillview Stadium
McKinnon vs. Sunbury, Sunday @4pm, GESAC

Mentions

IN a massive clash for the Big V Women’s championship, the top two sides will lock horns as the competition hosts Round 11 of the 2022 season.
