LOOKING to break their form slump and keep in touch with the top four, the Sydney Kings<\/a> made a statement at home, defeating the New Zealand Breakers<\/a> by 29 points in the Kings’ inaugural Pink Hoops game at Qudos Bank Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The win came on the back of standout performances from Jaylen Adams<\/a> and Denzel Valentine<\/a>, with Angus Glover<\/a> shooting the lights out off the bench. The Kings won three out of four quarters, helping the side to a comprehensive 105-76 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Kings bringing the intensity and energy in the opening term, the home side took a 15-point lead. Sydney did the damage on the rebounding category, 22-7, and also won the second quarter, 29-15, extending the advantage to 29 points at the main break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kings continued to shoot the ball at a high percentage from the field after half-time, posting 34\/51 at 67 per cent compared to the Breakers’ 22\/52 at 42 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst the Breakers won the final quarter, 22-16, the Kings were still efficient on most categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kings finished the game dominating the rebound count, 42-28. They were able to be patient with the ball, finding efficient passes inside the post and around the perimeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Breakers had contributions from Izayah Le’afa<\/a> off the bench alongside Cameron Gliddon<\/a>, William McDowell-White<\/a> and Parker Jackson-Cartwright<\/a>, but it was the low shooting percentage from the field and the rebounding category that was the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kings ended the game shooting at 39\/66 at 59 per cent, compared to the Breakers, 30\/69 at 43 per cent in a massive discrepancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kings were able to capitalise from three point range, shooting at 15\/ 29 at 52 per cent, compared to the Breakers, 13\/37 at 35 per cent, with New Zealand’s reliance on long-range shooting proving costly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The home side also finished the game dominating the points from turnovers, 22-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams finished at the Kings’ top scorer with 39 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Valentine poured in 23 points, two rebounds, five assists and one steal, while Glover brought the spark off the bench, 13 points, one assist and one block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Breakers, Jackson-Cartwright finished with 12 points, three assists, one rebound, one steal, while Gliddon and McDowell-White produced 12 and 10 points respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kings are next slated a top four blockbuster, playing at home against the Perth Wildcats<\/a> on January 21. Meanwhile, the Breakers face the SEM Phoenix<\/a> at home on January 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
