WITH the 2024 Paris Olympic Games just a few months away, the Australian Boomers announced their initial 22-player squad for the basketball component of the world’s biggest sporting event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Australian basketball has been thriving over the past four years since the most recent Olympics, and the Boomers appear poised to deliver their most talented team in history, with a healthy balance of NBL and NBA talent on the cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leading the way from an NBA point of view are the two mainstays in Joe Ingles <\/strong>and Patty Mills<\/strong>, although the pair will all but certainly participating in their last Olympic Games, having forged impressive international careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They will be passing the torch to the likes of Josh Giddey<\/strong>, Duop Reath, Josh Green<\/strong> and Dante Exum<\/strong>, all of whom performed strongly at last year’s FIBA World Cup and are emerging as the future of Australian basketball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From an NBL perspective, recently crowned champions Will Magnay<\/a> and Jack McVeigh<\/a> will be looking to make their good fortune continue with a spot at the ultimate competition, while Matthew Dellavedova<\/a> has clawed his way back into the squad after missing the 2023 World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is also some young talent on the roster as well, with Rocco Zikarsky<\/a> and Johnny Furphy <\/strong>giving Aussie fans a glimpse of the future.
