SEPTEMBER will see Perth become Australia’s home of basketball, hosting the inaugural HoopsFest, which will bring together the National Basketball League (NBL), the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) and junior basketball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taking place from September 19-22, the weekend will see the first round of the NBL, a WNBL tournament and the Under-18 Club Championships, with games taking place across RAC Arena, HBF Stadium and Bendat Basketball Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NBL action will open with a Championship Series rematch between the Tasmania JackJumpers<\/a> and Melbourne United<\/a>, which the former won the series 3-2 in what will be an exciting way to kick off the 2024\/25 fixture. Each team will play 29 games throughout the season so they can take place in the tournament, but still host all of their home games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The WNBL tournament will take place just prior to the regular season fixture, and will give fans an early look at how each team is shaping after the off-season. Perhaps the most exciting factor of this will be the first glimpse at Geelong United as the rebranded and relocated Melbourne Boomers<\/a> in one of the biggest moves in recent WNBL history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Club Championships will showcase some of the best young talent in the country as over 40 men’s and women’s teams lock horns to take home the trophy.
