With a big game against Kilsyth Cobras the following day, the Cavaliers also had to be mindful of managing players against two of the title contenders.

While Frankston started on the right note to secure an early six-point lead at quarter time, the Cavaliers soon showed they had come to play with a dominant 24-14 second term. The visitors maintained a two-point lead heading into the final stanza, but a 28-17 last quarter saw Frankston come from behind to win by nine points and continue its winning run in the 2025 season.

It was another even performance across the board from the Blues with five players scoring between 10-12 points and another three between seven and nine points on the night. Nicholas Beattie (12 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists) and Ryan Lane (12 points, five rebounds) were the equal team-high scorers, while skipper Maddox Parsons (10 points seven rebounds) helped crash the boards, and Jesse Lans (10 points, five assists) provided a dynamic threat on offence.

For the Cavaliers, Ethan Bolton was huge managing 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists, sharing the game-high points tally with teammate Cedric Rault (15 points, three rebounds and four steals). Joel Robinson (14 points, seven rebounds and four steals) was also busy throughout the night.

Casey would go on to end the weekend with a 0-2 record after going down to Kilsyth by 19 points. The unbeaten Cobras lead all-comers with an 8-0 record, while Knox Raiders stormed past Keysborough (100-80) to remain outright second. Keilor Thunder had a shock loss to Eltham Raiders, while at the other end of the ladder, Melbourne won its first games of the year, defeating Waverley and Wyndham to move to a 2-5 record.

ROUND 6:

Waverley Falcons

85

def. by

Melbourne Tigers

90

Melbourne Tigers

106

def.

Wyndham Basketball

87

Diamond Valley Eagles

60

def. by

Geelong United

87

Knox Raiders

100

def.

Keysborough Cougars

80

Frankston Blues

87

def.

Casey Cavaliers

78

Wyndham Basketball

73

def. by

Knox Raiders

112

Casey Cavaliers

96

def. by

Kilsyth Cobras

105

Nunawading Spectres

106

def.

Waverley Falcons

76

Eltham Wildcats

96

def.

Keilor Thunder

75

Sandringham Sabres

88

def.

Hume City Broncos

78

Mentions

FRANKSTON Blues remained outright third on the NBL1 table after a hard-fought win over Casey Cavaliers on the Blues’ home court in the Big V Youth Championship Men’s division over the weekend.
