TWO players each from the Adelaide 36ers and Brisbane Bullets made their mark on Round 14 with some solid performances. Melo Trimble shone once again for the Taipans, while Finn Delany was convincing for the Breakers.

Cairns Taipans – #1 Melo Trimble

He’s the best shooter in the league at the moment and followed up his 74-point weekend last round with another 55 points across two games in Round 14. Firstly, against Brisbane, he scored 23 points including 75 per cent from deep. He was also perfect from the line, as he shot 54.5 per cent from the field. He managed three rebounds, one assist and two steals. Against New Zealand, in a game that went to overtime, Trimble scored 32 points, going at 52.5 per cent overall. If that’s not enough, he had five rebounds and assists each.

Adelaide 36ers – #11 Harry Froling 

Froling found himself on the bench again on Thursday night, but still amassed 20 minutes on court. He netted eight points but his eight rebounds in this game against Perth was a game-high. He too had a game-high eight rebounds against the Kings later in the round, where he pocketed 14 points at five of eight shooting.

New Zealand Breakers – #3 Finn Delany

Delany had a better Round 14 than the week before, where this time around against Illawarra he was able to shoot 100 per cent from the field to gather seven points. He also had two rebounds and two assists. Delany enjoyed the extra time against Cairns, and his game time was extended as a result. His first score of this game was a three-pointer, one of two he made for the game on his way to 15 points. He also had four rebounds, one assist and four fouls on him.

Adelaide 36ers – #9 Jack McVeigh

McVeigh had a wonderful weekend with the 36ers, getting court time he’s never seen before. He had around 17 minutes in each of Adelaide’s Round 14 matches and enjoyed success, obviously making the most of his chances. Against the Wildcats he had eight points, seven rebounds and two assists, adding a block as well. Against the Kings, McVeigh had nine points at 60 per cent shooting, as well as four rebounds and an assist.

Brisbane Bullets – #12 Will Magnay

Magnay didn’t star for the Bullets, and in five minutes, he shot one field goal and made it for two points.

Sydney Kings – #20 Brian Bowen

Bowen played one game this round for Sydney, coming up against the 36ers. He played almost 15 minutes and managed eight points at 60 per cent. Unfortunately, there was no rebounds or assists for Bowen.

Brisbane Bullets – #24 Tyrell Harrison

Harrison, like Magnay was in the game for less than three and a half minutes and he too made a two pointer from just the one attempt. 

Perth Wildcats – #25 Rhys Vague

It’s so great to see young National Basketball League (NBL) stars getting starts for their sides, and that’s what occurred for Vague on the weekend. On Thursday against the 36ers, he played 25 and a half minutes and rewarded himself with a season-high 10 points. His added time also saw him end the game with four rebounds, three assists and a block. In his second game against United, he was back on the bench but still managed five points and five rebounds.
