One of the most popular fighters on the roster, Max Holloway proved ‘Blessed’ was best at 145lbs over his 14-fight divisional win streak from 2014-2019. As active as any fighter, the former Featherweight champion’s high volume striking style and immeasurable stamina have made him near-unstoppable in the UFC since entering the promotion as a 21-year-old. His first assignment was a meeting with Dustin Poirier on short notice, where he was outclassed but showed enough promise to warrant time to develop. A third overall loss came against Conor McGregor just 18 months after his debut UFC bout, but sparked Holloway’s record-matching streak. Fast-forward to 2016 with nine wins strung together, and the Hawaiian was given his first opportunity at UFC gold in an interim Featherweight title fight against Anthony Pettis. Having overwhelmed the former-Lightweight champ, the undisputed title was next up, and consecutive wins over Jose Aldo to do so solidified his status as the best fighter at his weight – perhaps ever. A typically brilliant win over Brian Ortega combined with Holloway’s ever-growing popularity afforded him a chance to become another UFC double-champ, but Poirier got the better of him for the second time – this time at Lightweight. It was back to normal proceedings in July 2019 though, with Holloway besting Frankie Edgar in their long-awaited Featherweight title bout, but the streak finally came to an end at UFC 245. Given Holloway's adherence to granting Jose Aldo an immediate rematch, one would think new champ Alexander Volkanovski will do the same for Max.
