A Ramtastic display sees Carlton’s undefeated run come to an end

ROUND Four of the Victorian Women’s Premier Cricket 1sts competition saw an undefeated run and a winless run both come to an end.

Ringwood Rams WP1 vs Carlton Blues WP1

Ringwood did something that no other side has been able to do yet this season, and that is defeat Carlton.

The Rams batted first and made 6/242 off their 50 overs.

Una Raymond-Hoey continued her great form with the bat and made another half century.

On the other side of the equation, Madison Albers and Adelaide Campion both took two wickets for the Blues.

In reply, a spectacular bowling display from the Rams, including an excellent caught and bowled from Olivia Henry, saw Carlton dismissed for 131 in the 33rd over.

Henry ended up taking two wickets, as did captain Bhavisha Devchand, but it was Hailey Ferris who topped the Rams’ bowling figures with three wickets.

Melbourne Demons WP1 vs Dandenong Panthers WP1

Melbourne continued their great start to the season and remain the only undefeated side in the 1sts after defeating Dandenong.

The Dees won the toss and batted first. They lost their last three wickets for nine runs and were bowled out for 176 one ball shy of the end of the 43rd over.

In reply, despite a 74 run partnership between Nicole Faltum and Kim Garth it wasn’t enough as the Panthers were bowled out for 167 with just over an over to go.

For the Demons, Stephanie Townsend and Ella Hayward both made half centuries. Erika Quinn and Hasrat Gill both took three wickets.

Meanwhile for Dandenong, Chelsea Moscript and Uvindee Wijesena both took three wickets, and Faltum was the top scorer with 58.

Prahran True Blues WP1 vs Plenty Valley Bats WP1

In the battle of the winless sides, it was Prahran who ended their winless run, accounting for Plenty Valley.

Batting first, the True Blues made 7/268 off their 50 overs. Annabel Sutherland made 118, while Jane Riley, Amelie Sibillin and Jasleen Kaur all took two wickets for the Bats.

The reply can only be described as a disaster for the Bats. Prahran only took until the 24th over to bowl out Plenty Valley for 66. Only two Plenty Valley batters made double figures.

Sophie Day took three wickets for Prahran, and Meika King and Ellen Williams each took two.

Essendon Maribyrnong Park vs Box Hill Mustangs WP1

Box Hill bounced back from a disastrous game last weekend to comfortably beat EMP.

EMP batted first and were bowled out for 163 after 44 overs.

Samantha Bates was top scorer for the Bombers with 62. Isabel White, Holly Spencer and skipper Zoe Griffiths lead the way for Box Hill from a bowling perspective with three wickets each.

In reply, 61 from Spencer and 60 from Anna Lanning ensured the target was never going to really be an issue for the Mustangs. They were able to reach the target in only 35 overs.

Hannah Rooke was the pick of the Bombers’ bowlers with three wickets.
