Carlton dominates Round 6 Team of the Week
LAST weekend saw the last round of Women’s Premier Firsts action before the Christmas and New Year break. A whopping five Carlton Blues made the side, with Box Hill Mustangs and Ringwood Rams having two players each. There were plenty of amazing performances across the competition, including some high scores and a wicketkeeper who certainly did not have butter fingers.
1. Cailin Green – Carlton
Green was one half of an 88-run opening stance that set up Carlton’s innings nicely to ultimately take the win. She also scored the majority of that opening partnership, finishing on 62.
2. Olivia Henry – Ringwood
After a couple of down weeks, young star Henry scored her second highest tally of the season last weekend. She made 64 not out as the Rams accounted for Prahran.
3. Una Raymond-Hoey – Ringwood
Fellow Ram Raymond-Hoey just keeps piling on the runs for the Rams. Last weekend the Irishwoman made 67 as the Rams defeated Prahran.
4. Zoe Samuel – Melbourne
Samuel was the standout with the bat for Melbourne as they kept their undefeated season intact. She made 60 in the win.
5. Katia Jomini – Essendon Maribyrnong Park
Jomini was a standout with the bat for EMP in their loss to Melbourne, making a solid 75.
6. Nipuni Hansika – Carlton
Hansika just keeps piling on the runs for Carlton and has had a great start to the season. Against Plenty Valley last weekend she made another half century, this time making 59.
7. Sophie Reid (Wicketkeeper) – Carlton
Reid was very much the pick of the wicket keepers last weekend. She took two catches, and had two assisted runnouts and two stumpings in her side’s win over Plenty Valley.
8. Holly Spencer – Box Hill
Although her side may not have gotten the win, Spencer was an absolute star with the ball. She took 3/22 off eight overs, which included one maiden.
9. Madison Albers – Carlton
In her side’s win over Plenty Valley, Albers was the pick of the bowlers. Bowling nine overs, she bowled one maiden and took 3/28.
10. Isabel White – Box Hill
Much like her team mate Spencer, Isabel White was a star with the ball for Box Hill despite the Mustangs going down to Dandenong. Off her 8 overs, she took 3/30, which included one maiden.
11. Ella Baulch – Carlton
A bowler with one of the tightest figures of the weekend, Baulch took 2/9 off her five overs in Carlton’s win. This included one maiden.
