Victorian Premier Cricket: Womens 2s and 3s Wrap

LAST weekend saw the final round of the Victorian Premier Cricket women’s season in both the 2nds and 3rds competitions, with plenty of exciting action across both. Now, the attention turns to finals.

Prahran vs Plenty Valley

2nd XI

Off the back of a 78 from Katie Lamb, Plenty Valley managed to post 8/173 from their 45 overs.

In reply the target was no match for the True Blues, as they reached it in 32 overs. Madeleine Stirling was the top scorer with 43.

From a bowling perspective, Samantha Arscott was the pick of the Prahran bowlers with four wickets, while it was Hanna Waters who was the pick of the Bats’ bowlers with two.

3rd XI

Prahran absolutely annihilated Plenty Valley to finish its season on a huge high.

Batting first, Prahran made 5/256 off the back of 110 from Nikita Liyanage. Mikaela Bosco took two wickets for Plenty Valley.

In reply, Prahran absolutely ripped through the Bats’ lineup, dismissing them for a mere 27. Zoe Quinsey-Munro was the pick of Prahran bowlers, taking four wickets.

Ringwood vs Carlton

2nd XI

Ringwood dished out a stellar performance to comfortably defeat Carlton.

Carlton batted first, and after a stellar bowling performance from the Rams, was dismissed for a mere 98.

Although Ringwood took its time, it was not really a challenge and the target was chased down in the 34th over.

It was the bowlers who were the stars of the show for both sides.

Skipper Debra Loughnan was the pick of the Rams bowlers with three wickets, while Breannan Harris and Sophie Rohkamper took two each.

Meanwhile Hannah Flood and Mia Earl were the pick of the Carlton bowlers with two each.

3rd XI

Carlton made light work of the Rams in a nice preparation for the upcoming finals.

After ripping through the Ringwood lineup, the Blues dismissed the Rams for only 54. Anoosha Thambi took three wickets, while Grace Kerwin and Holly Gibney took two.

Carlton didn’t even need 15 overs to reach the target in the end. Jordyn Allen was the best of the bowlers for the Rams with two wickets to her name.

Box Hill vs Melbourne

2nd XI

Melbourne warmed up for finals with a comfortable win over Box Hill.

Batting first, the Dees made an extremely competitive 7/209 off their 45 overs. This was off the back of a 92 from Lucy Page.

In reply, a 55 from Yashoda Senarathine was not enough as the Mustangs only made 166 off their 40 overs.

From a bowling perspective, Page and Limansa Thilakarathna took two wickets each for Dees, while Rituja Talekar and Senarathine were the best of the Mustangs bowlers with two each.

3rd XI

Off the back of a 78 from Jessica Bohn, Melbourne was able to post a very competitive total of 6/198. Annanya Malhotra was the pick of the Mustangs’ bowlers, taking the four wickets.

In reply though, a 47 from Michelle Winterton was not enough as Box Hill never got closed to the target, and fell 60 runs short.

Dandenong vs Essendon Maribyrnong Park

2nd XI

In a tight one out at Aberfeldie Park, it was the Panthers who held on in a close one to give them confidence heading into finals.

Dandenong batted first, but was bowled out for 154 with four overs left in its innings.

Only three batters made double figure scores, with Jemma Reynolds top scoring with 47 and Rachel Heenan making 45.

For the Bombers Hannah Brne was the main wicket taker with three wickets.

In reply though, the Bombers got close but just ran out of overs. The finished on 142, with Grace Thompson the best of the Bomber batters with 38.

Meanwhile for Dandenong, Grace Wrigglesworth was the main destroyer with the ball, taking three wickets.

3rd XI

Batting first, the Panthers lost a fair few wickets though the middle of the innings to finish on 9/132.

For the Bombers, Natalie Grero was the main destroyer of their bowlers with three wickets, while Aarzu Mavi took two.

In reply though, a fine bowling display from the Panthers saw them bowl out the Bombers for only 118. Montana Phillips had a ripping innings with the ball, taking 4/30 off her 6.5 overs.

Meanwhile for the Bombers, Aryahi Khadilkar was a shining light with the bat, making 44.
