Key changes, they are a comin’ to WBBL
EVEN though the WNCL season has only just begun, the latest WBBL campaign is also just around the corner, with teams finalising their lists and fans keen for the competition to get underway on October 13.
Cricket Australia has today announced a few new rule changes that will be brought into the WBBL this season, including the introduction of DRS and the introduction of the Power Surge.
DRS is being brought into all BBL games, but only 24 WBBL games – the ones broadcasted on both Fox and Seven, including finals. The remaining broadcasts will not support DRS technology.
The Power Surge has been in the BBL competition for a few years now, but is now being introduced into the WBBL too.
It is similar to the power play at the beginning of the innings, but is called by the batting team between the 11th and 20th overs. For two overs, only two fielders are allowed outside the inner circle.
WBBL08 gets underway on October 13, when the Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers battle it out in Mackay. With the competition only a matter of weeks away, teams are busy finalising their lists for the upcoming season, with not too many list spots left to fill across the competition.
Below is what each team’s squad currently looks like, with only just over two weeks left until the first game.
