WE are a week down already in WBBL08, so with all teams having now played either two or three games it is time to take a look at who has started the season well.
BATTING
Georgia Redmayne
Heat star Redmayne is leading all comers on the batting side of things thus far this season with 180 runs across her three games so far this season. Her average is 90 already, and with a high score of 98 not out she is definitely one to watch as the season progresses.
Ellyse Perry
After a lot of injury troubles over the last couple of years, seeing Perry back firing with the bat and up the top of the batting table feels like a return to normality. Perry had hit 141 runs across her three matches to start the season, with an average of 47 and a high score of 58.
Lauren Winfield-Hill
The Englishwoman is new to the WBBL this season, but is already proving to have been a handy recruit for the Stars. Although her most recent two outings were not profitable with the bat, her 74 in the opening game was enough to see her currently sit third on the batting tally with 94 runs.
Beth Mooney
The Scorchers’ keeper has not quite hit the heights of her early season WNCL form, but is still fairly consistently making runs for her team. She has hit 92 runs so far this season with an average of 46 and a high score of 38 not out.
Suzie Bates
The new Sixer has had inconsistencies to start the season, but has also proven why she can be such a valuable asset to the team. Her highest score this season was 82 not out against former side Adelaide, but only scored four in each of her other two innings to give her a season total of 90 runs thus far.
BOWLING
Maitlin Brown
Brown has continued her good early season WNCL form into the WBBL, picking up plenty of wickets in her first trio of games. From her 11 overs she has bowled thus far this season, she has picked up 7/72. This includes a 3/20 haul against Brisbane in game one.
Sophie Ecclestone
The new Sixer is certainly proving to be a valuable pick up for the side in pink. She has picked up 6/64 across her 12 overs so far this season, which includes a 4/17 haul against Adelaide.
Heather Graham
One of the new members of the Hurricanes side this season, Graham has certainly not wasted time in making an impact for her new side. She has picked up 5/45 across her three matches this season, which includes a haul of 3/15 against the Thunder to start the season.
Marizanne Kapp
The South African international has also picked up five wickets this season, but conceded one more run than Graham has this season. However, Kapp has picked up a maiden in her 12 overs she has bowled so far this season, which Graham has not managed to do.
Alana King
The Aussie spinning sensation has continued her breakthrough 12 months. The Scorchers star has picked up 5/53 so far this season, which does include the 3/15 she picked up against Hobart.
