Sciver the star ensures England keep on winning
A SCINTLLATING performance from Nat Sciver has seen England end the One Day portion of its West Indian tour undefeated, after defeating the hosts by 151 runs.
After electing to bat first, the English openers got off to a fabulous start, reaching a 63 run opening stance before Emma Lamb was dismissed. Then they found themselves in a bit of trouble, losing the next wicket for only two runs and the next one for another eight runs.
It was not until the fifth wicket partnership between Sciver and Danni Wyatt that things really got going for the visitors. They put on a 90 run partnership to turn the innings around.
However even after they were both dismissed, the English just kept losing wicket, and in the end were dismissed for 256 in the 44th over. Sciver was by far the pick of the batters, finishing with on 85.
Meanwhile for the West Indies, Hayley Matthews and Shakera Selman were the pick of the bowlers, picking up three wickets apiece. Kaysia Schultz also picked up two of her own.
The West Indian chase did not get off to as strong of a start, only making 40 runs before they lost their first wicket.
However, in the space of 10 balls at about the 15th over mark was where things really started to fall apart for the West Indies. They went from 2/57 to 4/57 in that time, and that was when the momentum really stalled for the host side.
They never recovered from there, continuing to lose wickets and ultimately be bowled out for only 105 halfway through the 38th over. Matthews was ultimately the top scorer for the West Indies, but only made 28.
Meanwhile for the English, Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers with 3/9 off her nine overs, which included a whopping six maidens. Sciver also picked up two wickets, while every other English bowler used picked up one wicket each.
The series now moves to the T20 format, with the first one set to take place Monday morning Australian time.
