England clean sweeps series with most dominant win yet
ENGLAND has closed out its T20 series against the West Indies in dominant fashion, destroying the hosts to win by eight wickets in Bridgetown.
This win closes out a comprehensive series whitewash for England, while leaving plenty of questions for the West Indies after some particularly poor performances, especially on the eve of significant tournaments.
In the final T20 of the bilateral series, the Windies decided to bat first, which proved a poor decision in hindsight.
After losing their first wicket two thirds of the way through the second over, things began to go downhill rapidly.
With the highest partnership for the entire innings only eight runs, it was an embarrassing day at the crease for the home side.
The West Indies lasted the majority of the innings, but were bowled out with only 43 on the board in the 17th over.
Only one West Indian batter made a double-figure score, and that was Djenaba Joseph with 11.
In fact, the extras tally of seven outscored everyone bar her, Cherry-Ann Fraser and Hayley Matthews.
Meanwhile on the flipside, Freya Davies and Alice Davidson-Richards had a field day, picking up three wickets each. Charlie Dean also chipped in with two wickets of her own.
In reply, despite losing two wickets, the chase really was not a challenge for the English as they got the job done in the sixth over. Nat Sciver top scored with an unbeaten 20.
Matthews and Karishma Ramharack each picked up a wicket for the home side but it was in vain as the English flexed their muscles and finished the tour with a statement.
