ALTHOUGH currently deep in an Ashes campaign, the Australian Women’s Cricket Team are already thinking ahead, naming their squad for the next series on the calendar, which is against Ireland.
Again captained by Alyssa Healy while Meg Lanning takes a break, there is only one change from the squad currently battling out the senior Ashes, with Megan Schutt coming out of the line up and being replaced by Heather Graham, who is currently on tour with the Australia A side.
This means Kim Garth has been selected for Australia again, and will play against her birth country for the first time since switching national allegiances, and against a country she first represented on the international stage as a 14 year old.
The series against Ireland is a three match One Day International series, and will form part of the Women’s One Day International Championship, which will determine who automatically qualifies for the 2025 World Cup.
Australia has not played the Emerald Isle in a One Day International since 2005, but have played several T20s recently against the Irish, including last year’s Tri Series with Pakistan and a T20 World Cup warm up match earlier this year.
This year’s series will be played at the end of July in Dublin.
