THE time has come for the launch of the Women’s Indian Premier League season.

There has not been as much fanfare second time around, but it is sure to still provide plenty of entertainment.

Starting tomorrow morning Australian time and ending just under a month later, the five teams who competed in the inaugural season will be back at it again to try and win the title.

Everyone is chasing the Mumbai Indians this time around, after they defeated the Delhi Capitals in last year’s final to take the inaugural title.

The Indians will be helped in their title defence this year by the fact that their squad has not really been depleted like some of their rivals. This is in stark contrast to the Gujrat Giants who turned over a large percentage of their squad in the offseason.

From an Australian perspective, there are plenty of players – both new and returning – heading over to India for the lucrative tournament.

Some of Australia’s biggest names like Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy are all returning for a second season with their respective sides, while the likes of Sophie Molineux and Phoebe Litchfield are about to embark on their first season in the lucrative tournament.

Then there are the likes of Annabel Sutherland who are coming back for a second season but for a different team. The young Aussie star will swap the orange of Gujarat for the red and blue of Delhi this season, joining Victorian team mate Lanning and fellow Aussies Laura Harris and Jess Jonassen at the raining runners ups.

All the action kicks off tomorrow morning at 1am AEDT with a Grand Final rematch between the Capitals and Indians.
