Georgia’s giant innings helps CA Green see Gold
YOUNG Queensland star Georgia Voll was the talk of the town in Adelaide yesterday as CA Green took a commanding position after day one of the inaugural women’s multi day domestic match against CA Gold.
Voll struck a monstrous double-ton to see team green declare on 3-355, leaving CA Gold to bat out 18 overs into stumps.
Openers Voll and Chloe Piparo looked unbreakable at one stage, putting together a 171-run stand for the first wicket. The runs did not let up once Piparo fell for 66, as Voll continued the onslaught alongside Maddy Darke (57) in a further partnership of 167 runs.
Voll ultimately carried her bat to finish on an even 200 before captain Heather Graham brought the innings to a close.
On the flipside, it was a tough day in the field for the CA Gold side, with eight bowlers of a squad of 13 used in the innings. Grace Parsons was the only one to find any success, taking all three of her side’s wickets for figures of 3-69.
CA Gold started their innings in the shadows of the end of the day, with openers Nicole Faltum (32) and Emma De Broughe (14) steadily guiding their side to 0-64. They will resume play at the crease on day two.
