Proceedings even as match heads into final chapter

THINGS are evenly poised heading into the final day of the inaugural CA Green vs CA Gold match, but time may not be on their side to get a result.

Starting day two at 0/64, the run fest for CA Gold continued between openers Nicole Faltum and Emma De Broughe. Although neither of them were able to quite reach the heights from the day before of Georgia Voll on an individual front, they still both passed the century mark and ultimately went on to put on a 232 run opening run stance.

The runs did not stop even after de Broughe fell, as partnerships of 44 and 56 followed in the next two partnerships.

As the CA Gold score got closer to CA Green’s first innings tally, the end of the day was also getting closer, and to perhaps give some hope of the match getting a result, CA Gold ultimately declared five runs behind Green’s total.

It was de Broughe who ultimately went on to top score for CA Gold with 115, while Faltum was not too far behind on 112.

Meanwhile for CA Green it was skipper Heather Graham who topped the wicket tally with two wickets, while Alana King and Maitlan Brown picked up one each.

This decision left about 20 overs at the end of the day for CA Green to add to their lead, but it was CA Gold who had the last laugh. Their bowlers ripped through Green’s top order to leave them at 3/91 at the end of the day’s action.

However, Voll is proving again hard to dislodge from the crease, ending the day at 49 not out.

Meanwhile for Gold Gabby Sutcliffe was the one who was destructive with ball in hand, picking up all three wickets.
