Aussies clean sweep tour with another big win
AUSTRALIA’s undefeated run has continued, this time defeating Bangladesh by 77 runs in the third T20 of their series to fully clean sweep their tour.
The Australians batted first and made 6/155, before bowling their hosts out for just 78.
Choosing to go back to a more traditional batting line up, the Australians made pretty steady progress through their innings. However there were only two substantial partnerships out of the six, with a 39 run partnership and a 57 run one respectively bookmarking the innings.
It was the leaders who truly led the way for Australia, with skipper Alyssa Healy (45) and vice captain Tahlia McGrath (44 not out) the two highest scorers for the visitors. These two also had multiple boundaries each, with Healy whacking six fours and two sixes while McGrath recorded two fours and two sixes.
On the flipside Nahida Akter was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers, taking 3/31 in her four over innings. Shorifa Khatun and Rabeya Khan were the other wicket takers, picking up one each, while wicket number six was a run out credited to captain Nigar Sultana Joty.
In reply, the fact that Bangladesh lost their first wicket only five balls into the innings and with only four runs on the board truly was a sign of what was to come. Only three double digit partnerships followed as the wicket floodgates truly opened.
Much like her Australian counterpart, Sultana Joty was the top scorer for her side with 32, to be one of only four batters to make a double figure score and one of four to outscore the extras tally of eight.
Meanwhile for the Australians every bowler who rolled the arm over took at least one wicket. Four of them took one wicket, Georgia Wareham took two while Tayla Vlaeminck was the pick of the lot with a brilliant spell of 3/12 from her four overs.
