Marvelous Maitlan and Mack help Aussies keep on winning

AUSTRALIA has kept its winning run going, winning the first one dayer of it’s a series with India by four wickets.

After India posted 9/249, Australia reached the target with three overs to spare.

India’s innings got off to a fiery but ultimately costly start, as they found themselves 1/7 after three balls, and then 2/11 at the start of the third over.

But then, things started to go on the improve for the visitors. The third wicket was 45 runs, then the fourth was 55 runs, then the fifth and six wickets were also decent sized partnerships.

However, things fell off the rails towards the end of the innings as they lost the final three wickets of the winnings for 17 runs to bring the run rate to a screeching holt.

Raghvi Bist starred with bat in hand for India, making 82 runs, while Tejal Hasabnis also had a strong day with the bat, making 53.

Meanwhile for the Australians Maitlan Brown had a starring role with the ball, taking four runs, while Nicola Hancock and Grace Parsons took two wickets each.

In reply the hosts got off to a much better start than their visitors, putting 50 runs on the board before they lost their first wicket.

Things really accelerated from about the 24 over mark though, when Katie Mack and Tahlia McGrath put on a 122 run partnership for the third wicket to really put the Australians in the box seat. Unsirprisingly it was those two who were ultimately the top scorers for Australia, with Mack making 129 and McGrath making 56.

There was a bit of a wobble towards the end of the innings for the Australians, losing 3/12 in the space of two and a half overs, but in the end it was too little too late as they reached the target with plenty of time to spare.

Meghna Singh and Minnu Mani were the only bowlers to pick up any wickets for India, picking up two of them each.
