BBL and WBBL pre-listed players finalised
WITH the BBL and WBBL Drafts taking place on Sunday, Rookie Me Central looked at the players that have been pre-signed and those eligible to be retained.
In the lead-up to the Big Bash League (BBL) and Women’s Big Bash League’s (WBBL) seasons, the teams allowed one player per club to be pre-signed on multi-year deals ahead of Sunday’s drafts for the first time.
These players will be selected in one of the four bands (platinum, gold, silver and bronze), so the club cannot take another pick in that band. Platinum players can only be taken with a team’s first or second pick, gold can be selected with a second or third pick, silver with a third or fourth pick, and a bronze tiered player will only be selected with a club’s fourth pick.
All teams have already selected a player for both their women’s and men’s sides, meaning that they can either pass in one round and take two players within two of the other bands or take four players if their salary cap permits. Teams that take four players will only be allowed to have three on their primary list of 18 players at any stage.
