First up losers become second up winners at World Cup

DAY FOUR of the 2024 T20 World Cup saw India and West Indies get on the board for the tournament with their first wins of the tournament.

India on the board with win over rival

India is on the board for this tournament after a six wicket win over neighbour and rival Pakistan.

After restricting the Pakistanis to 8/105 off their 20 overs, India reached the target with seven balls to spare.

Arundhati Reddy was the leader for India with the ball in hand, taking three wickets, while Shreyanka Patil took two wickets. Because of their bowling no one needed to score particularly high in the chase, with Shafali Verma ultimately top scoring with 32.

Meanwhile for Pakistan only four batters outscored the extras tally of 12, with Nida Dar’s 28 the best of the bunch. In the chase Fatima Sana Khan was the only one to take more than one wicket, ultimately taking two.

Windies also on the board

The West Indies also picked up their first win of the tournament, cruising to a six wicket win over Scotland.

Scotland was restricted to 8/99 from its 20 overs, before the West Indies reached the target in 11.4 overs.

Afy Fletcher was the star for the West Indies with ball in hand, taking three wickets. Chinelle Henry, Hayley Matthews and Karishma Ramharack all took one wicket each. Their efforts left the batters with not too much to do, with Qiana Joseph’s 31 the top score.

Meanwhile for Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce (25) and Ailsa Lister (26) were the only batters to get any kind of start with bat in hand. In the chase Olivia Bell was the only bowler to pick up multiple wickets, picking up two of them.
