PREVIEW | 2024 T20 Spring Challenge
THE first instalment of Cricket Australia’s newest women’s cricket competition, the T20 Spring Challenge will get underway this week, with nine teams set to compete in Adelaide and Sydney.
With the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup taking place meaning that the Cricket Australia contracted players are unavailable largely, the squads consist of some of the best young and state level talent suiting up for each side. With the T20 Spring Challenge set to take place as a lead–in of sorts to WBBL|10, the WBBL teams, along with the ACT Meteors will take part.
For those familiar with the WBBL and WNCL, the squads will look largely similar but players, such as Katie Mack, will align with their WBBL counterpart (Adelaide Strikers) and not their state or WNCL team (ACT Meteors).
The new competition serves to ensure that there would not be a reduction in the games played following the shortening of the WBBL this year.

The games will be taking place at Adelaide’s Karen Rolton Oval and Sydney’s North Sydney Oval, Hurstville Oval, Sydney Olympic Park and Allan Border Oval, with all finals to be played at Cricket Central.
Finals will play out between the top four after each team has played four matches over the first seven days of the tournament. The semi-finals will be held on the 19th of October and the next day the final will be played.
