NSW the state to beat as 19s Nationals get underway
YESTERDAY saw day one of the Under 19 female National Championships, with four sides shooting to the front of the pack.
Both sides from NSW had a strong first day at the tournament, with both winning their first two games of the week.
NSW Metro beat South Australia and Western Australia, while their Country state mates beat the Papua New Guinea Under 23s and the ACT. For NSW Metro, Ella Briscoe has surpassed the ton with 117 runs across her first couple of matches, while for NSW Country, Ava Drury has six wickets to her name already after just two games.
The other two teams to get off to a flier were Queensland and Vic Metro, who both won both their opening day games. Queensland beat Vic Country and Tasmania as Mahlia Rea snatched four wickets for the day, while seven wickets from Samara Dulvin steered Vic Metro beat the ACT and the Papua New Guinea Under 23s.
Today’s action sees each side play two more T20s before a rest day tomorrow.
