Regular rounds come to end, finals time on horizon

YESTERDAY was the final day of round robin matches at the Under 19 Female National Championships, with the placing and knockout matches kicking off tomorrow.

NSW Metro vs NSW Country

In the battle of the NSWs, it was Metro who emerged on top, winning by 35 runs. After Metro first made 6/26, Country only managed 8/231.

Olivia Maxwell was the star with the bat for Metro with 115, while Ella Briscoe made 54. Later Olivia Callaghan, Juliette Morton and Emily Powell took two wickets each. Meanwhile Molly Dare and Emily Humphreys took two wickets each for Country, while Kate McTaggart made 53 with the bat.

Western Australia vs Vic Country

Vic Country squared its ledger for the week with a seven wicket win over WA. The tournament hosts were bowled out for 123, before Country easily took care of the target in less than half of their possible overs.

Hasrat Gill (five wickets) and Yashoda Senarathne (three wickets) shone with the ball for Country, and Senarathne then went on to shine with the bat too, making 69 not out. For WA, Ines McKeon made 45 with the bat, while Tayla Flowers then took two wickets.

Queensland vs Vic Metro

Queensland has kept its perfect record for the week in tact after a two wicket win over Vic Metro. Metro first made 9/195 before Queensland reached that target with just over 10 overs spare.

Ruby Orchard (four wickets) and Lilli Hamilton (three wickets) were the pick of the bowlers for Queensland, before Grace Collins then went on to smash 78 not out. Samara Dulvin (47) and Zoe Samuel (43) impressed with the bat for Metro, before Tegan Rule went on to take three wickets.  

Tasmania vs South Australia

South Australia booked its place in the semi finals with a dominant 213 run win over Tasmania. The South Australians belted 4/317, before restricting Tasmania to just 104.

Skipper Elizabeth Worthley smashed 153 not out for South Australia, while Eleanor Larosa made 100. Matilda Maitland then took three wickets. Tasmania’s Ella Scolyer took two wickets.

ACT vs Papua New Guinea

The ACT picked up its first win of the week after beating PNG by 197 runs. ACT posted 7/290 before bowling out PNG for just 93.

Rachel Carroll belted 103 for the ACT, while Vivien Field and Stella Wilde took a trio of wickets each. Meanwhile Buruka Vicky took a trio of wickets for PNG.
