Capitals catapult back to top of WIPL standings

TOP SPOT on the Women’s Indian Premier League ladder has changed again after the Delhi Capitals surged to the top of the table after an impressive nine wicket win over the Mumbai Indians.
A stellar bowling performance set up things for the Capitals. Chasing merely 124 for victory, Meg Lanning (60 not out) and Shafali Verma (43) made lite work of the chase, putting on an 85 run opening stance inside the first 10 overs. Even after Verma was dismissed, Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues only needed another 28 more balls to get the job done.
Earlier the Indians lost 4/23 inside the last four overs of their innings to really fall in a heap. The Indians’ top scorers only made 22 as the likes Minnu Mani and Jess Jonassen ripped through their line up, with both bowlers taking a trio of wickets each.
Delhi do not have long to wait to continue its winning run as they get set to take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru tomorrow. Mumbai meanwhile has about a week to regroup before it takes on the UP Warriorz.
