Warriorz cause chaos to eliminate defending champs

UP Warriorz have played the role of party poopers, downing the Royal Challengers Bengalaru by 12 runs in the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) overnight.
Although the result did not affect the Warriorz’ chances of making the finals, the loss eliminated the Royal Challengers from the finals race, meaning that the defending champions cannot defend their title and that the Gujarat Giants will compete in their first ever finals series.
In a result with those far reaching consequences, the Warriorz made a whopping 5/225 before dismissing the Royal Challengers for just 213.
The UP Warriorz had speed on their mind right from the get go, going at about 10 runs an over even from their opening partnership. Georgia Voll really showed what she can do in the T20 format, blasting 17 fours and a six on her way to 99 not out from just 56 balls. Kiran Navgire went even quicker, blasting five sixes and a pir of fours on her way to 46 from just 16 balls.
Meanwhile Georgia Wareham tried her best for the Royal Challengers to stem the tide, taking a pair of wickets.
In response the Royal Challengers started vert quickly, but unfortunately for them the Warriorz were more successful with the ball than they had been earlier, and as such continued to generate wickets at a pretty consistent rate. Interestingly the two sides conceded about the same amount of extras, so bad bowling was not to blame for the disparity in success.
Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma led the way for the Warriorz with a trio of wickets each, while Chinelle Henry took a pair of wickets. Meanwhile, Richa Ghosh was the backbone of the Royal Challengers’ innings, scoring 6 boundaries and five maximums on her way to 69 off 33 balls.
