VICTORIA has beaten New South Wales for the second time in three days, this time defeating the Breakers by 29 runs to keep its perfect start to the season intact.

Victoria was bowled out for 259 on the penultimate ball of the innings, before New South Wales was bowled out for 230 in the 47th over.

The Victorians got off to a beat of shaky start, losing their first wicket in the fifth over with only 14 runs on the board. Things turned around quickly though, with the second wicket ultimately being 54 runs.

However, as the wickets started to consistently fall, the partnerships were unable to be that big again. The only partnership of any decent size for the rest of the innings was the 54 run fifth wicket.

In a pretty rare situation, the top scorer for the Victorians was actually batter number nine, with Georgia Prestwidge smacking five fours and three sixes on her way to 53 not out.

Earlier in the innings Olivia Henry made 40 while Ella Hayward made 39.

On the other side of the equation both Georgia Adams and Erin Burns took a trio of wickets each for the Breakers, while Sammy-Jo Johnson took a pair of wickets.

The start to the Breakers’ chase was not an awe inspiring one, and they found themselves 4/77 in the 19th over.

However, after an 86 run fifth wicket partnership, things were back on track for the home side.

But, five balls and one run later, wicket number six fell and the decline to the end was on.

They lost 2/60 and then 2/6 to be all out two thirds of the way through the 47th over.

Sophie Day was the star with ball in hand for the Vics with four wickets to her name, while Milly Illingworth picked up a trio of wickets.

Meanwhile for the vanquished Breakers Anika Learoyd was the star with bat in hand with 58, while Erin Burns made 44.
